Outboard Classes at Inboard Lawrence
Originally posted by Susan Rautenberg View Postmight want to confirm with jim nilsen but i heard the proposed 6 outboard classes are:
JH
AXSH
20SSH (BSH)
CSH
OSY400
DSH
Regarding the selection of outboard classes this year, the BOD took into consideration 1) our largest classes - I would expect anywhere from 6 boat to full fields with these classes. 2) those classes that have a legitimate chance of setting a record - Region 10 is the home of the 2009 National Champions in AXSH, OSY-400, & DSH. And last fall records were set at Lawrence Lake in JH, OSY-400, DSH and close in AXSH & 20SSH. So we have some fast equipment in these classes. And 3) if possible cover a cross section of our classes - We have 2 OMC-A/Mercury classes, 3 Yamato classes, and 1 Mercury/Tohatsu classes.
Long story short, sorry we can't please everyone, but I would encourage you to get a MOD class together, come race with us this season, and mark your calendar for Fall Lawrence, September 25-26. Arguably the fastest water in the country.
For those interested Spring Lawrence Lake. April 10-11. Inboard classes with 6 selected outboard classes. Saturday surveyed 1 1/4 mi record course. Sunday either 1 1/4 or 1 mile record course. Hope to see you there.
Hope this clears things up a little bit
Jim

well if i where to come over for the first race with the inboards yes i would prob have to pay some d's to step up with me,,, but if i showed up or wanted it scheduled i would be there running triple digits,,, hec the hole point of the race to set records...... if i remember the inbords seem to have a better set up for the course layout??? or are they all the same these days,,,??

Good luck... Form-E
The reason there is no FE class Is simple... they don't run you when you are there...! WE brought three or four boats over to make fields and classes in Fe/Se too several races over there... and would only get on the water one time for the whole weekend of a record attempt.. sometimes even same for normal events... No-one even knows what a "Formula E Hydro" is..... over there... I think..... they think they are beach displays not triple digit race boats...

Mike I strongly disagree with your thinking. We have had some great FEH races here on this side of the mtns. before. I know what happened at a Lake Lawrence in the past a few years ago. I am race chairman for the fall Lake Law. race and the FEH class is more than welcome to race. I will give those that come from over all the help and respect I can.
For the Lake Law. race in the spring we were ask well in advance from those putting on the race what classes to run. The board met last week and those classes that could field a full class and showed interest in running were voted on by the SOA board. Had we had the slightest idea that FEH was interested in putting a class together we would have considered it.

better communication...
I guess we all need a bit of better communication.. And a-lot more between these two clubs would help... And we know our class is kinda like pro in the sense .. they breakdown alot also .. but tunning these old motors to get to our speeds requires to run em at the ragged edge.. and yea having a few boats over on your side would help in having a better chance of finishing races with more boats running.. nobody likes a show that never happens... And Bill, Just keep a few classes open for the fall race.. maybe if our class is running strong we can get a few guys over.. I haven't been back over there since Dennis, Rick, Sattler and the guys all came over.. But it would be nice to get over.!
