  • Western Stock and J Divisionals this weekend

OK Left Coaster's, we 're set for Divisional this weekend at Cullaby Lake, Seaside Oregon.

Here is a tentative schedule for Saturday, Sunday would be the reverse fight order :
    Flight 1
    JR
    CSR
    JR
    CSR
CServR (no sooner than 12 noon)
    ASR
    CServR
    ASR

    Flight 2
    ASH
    OSY
    ASH
    OSY
    KPRO
    CSH
    KPRO
    CSH

    Flight 3
    JH
    20SS
    DSH
    JH
    20SS
    DSH
    AXSH
    CServH
    AXSH
    CServH

Before anyone gets too critical about the layout, here are the key points:
    1) Combines OMC classes into the same fight for J/A boats for teams with one engine running both classes so that only the restictor needs changed. Not a the whole motor from hydro to runabout, etc.
    2) Provides separation for the Service classes who plan to run all 4 classes this weekend, allowing for motor swaps from hydro to runabout, etc.
    3) Attempts to keep the louder classes running after 12 noon.

We will need to work around inspection though to insure ample restictor change over time when classes get back-up there.

Time as needed will also be given to let the water lay down after the Service boats run.

Gregg Thorsen will be attending this weekend and I'm hoping I can press him into service as a Pit Boss like at Newberg to keep the schedule running smoothly without unneeded delays.

On the issue of eliminations where needed: My thought is run the Pro Nationals format (draw for your two elims & top twelve single heat final, combine all points), to reduce total number of heats. The weather for this weekend is calling for showers and Cullaby can get very breezy in the afternoon growing stronger as it gets later. Pushing to hard on a crowded schedule might be risky in getting everyone in and out.

From those who plan to attend this weekend, give me your thoughts.

Hydro Divisionals Saturday, Runabout Divisionals Sunday

Per Mass email from APBA HQ, dated today:

----SO/J Divisionals: Hydro Divisionals Saturday, Runabout Divisionals Sunday. If Saturday is blown off, All Divisionals will be on Sunday. If Sunday is blown off, Saturday's results will count as Divisionals.

            ok with me

Works for us....we have restrictor, set up and lead to change over from JR.
Hopefully the pit boss will be kind, and make sure everyone is ready.

              going to tweek the scheadule?

Is the scheadule still going to be the same now that the divisionals are spreadout over both days? The way it is now, most of the nondivisional classes run before the divisional classes. On sunday all hydro classes will run before any of the divisional runabout classes. It seems like the divisional classes should get priority over the nondivisional classes.

                W/ modifications as suggested.

OK, all good input, let's see what folks have to say about this:

                * Per Kyle's observation, Flight 1 and 3 are swapped.
                * AXSR is placed in Flight 2 (Mike B. Can't be in with JR and ASR because it forces too many restrictor changes into the same flight)
                * CMH added to Flight 3 (provided you can come up with 4 boats) Can't be in with OSY and CSH because you may need some of these boats as step ups.

                Flight 1
                JH
                20SS

It was a JOKE to have all three A/J Run classes in the same flight

I'll put my 25SSH entry in for CMH for Saturday to help make a class. Call me 25MH

                      Cullaby Lake

There should be a 250/350 class, I have the bottom of my Revolution ripped apart, trying to make it work. But I don't think I'll have it put back toegether in time. I forgot how much fun working with itchy fiberglass can be.

Regarding Antique. Ken, it makes it a lot easier on the group if one racing and one service class per day, so suggest CRacingR Saturday (rather than Service Runabout) along with CServiceH. Sunday would than be CRacingH and CServiceR.

Thanks again for the effort and the communication, as you we never please everyone.

John, we'll run CMH with you. My driver survived 12 heats in the bull ring, he can handle 16 at Cullaby

Remember, we can't run megaphones at Cullaby (county requirement).

Hmmm...possible elims in JH, AXSH, CSH, 20ss; a 25ssh sighting, CMH, and I hear rumor of a FEH class. We may be pushing 100 entries.

Back in the 80's the race was called Cullaby Lake Magic Mile, (when we ran the mile record course) and the CORA club shirts said "Home of the Worlds Fastest Water"...
