  • Newberg 2009

Another year, another Newberg. That's 61 if you're scoring at home. A crew of Newberg Boat Club folks were down clearing the spectator area last weekend (and there were even a couple of CORA folks there to help). Weather report looks good (it never rains at Newberg), river is coming down, and hopefully that big-a** snag is out of turn 1.

There is a spaghetti feed again Saturday night. Prizes for Saturday results (sorry, no cash this year). Helldiver trophies (if I get them done this week). Strawberry shortcake. Bonfire. The Olde Fashioned Faire Court. ORR in the house.

Paging you CSR roll-up guys - the Challenge is back! This year we'll make it a little more special - let's have it be the Ponch Trolian PBR Roll Up Challenge. The uh, usual prizes. I wonder if Darrell finished off last year's first prize...

    See y'all at the river.

Speaking of the bonfire. We have a CSR to throw on it this year and may need help getting it down there. So if anyone has any extra room let us know. Either way the boat will get there.
      Thanks,
      Mike

        Not the Evil Streak...

Mike are you going to test the theory that the Evil Streak is less susceptible to blow over when dragged around the parking lot as opposed to on the water?

No, not the evil streak that boat is actually being campaigned this year by our good friend to the north Glenn Wesanko.
I won't ruin the suspense so you'll have to see when we pull in on friday.

This race is right outside me back door! I'm there too and this year, the Looper display will be even bigger! Besides the "A" through "F" (sorry, no six as of yet) You will also see a factory 30H alky, a Quincy prepped Mark 55H (four piper), that nasty little Quincy two banger 30 crossflow, Don Burnison's Quincy crossflow 44F and a mocked up 75H. There's also a "poop sheet" for each engine to explain things a bit better. I even did some work in setting up a visual aid to show how an engine goes from a gas fishing engine to an alky. Three hydro's, ten engines, all being towed by my dad's old 1965 F100 rust bucket.

I was going to bring a hydro for the bond fire, but as of the moment, it's the only thing holding up the machine shed after the ice storm of last Dec. Sorry Lee. Next year for sure, if I still have a pulse.

              Bon Fire

Although I won't be there, Susan and the crew are bringing down some wood for the fire too. I want pictures of Susan being towed through the parking lot in it before it hits the fire!!!!!!!!!LMAO.

Thanks Oregon Race Rescue and Newberg Fire Dept.

Diamond Racing would like to thank everyone From Oregon Race Rescue, and the Newberg Fire Dept. who spent their Memorial Day weekend making sure that all the racers at Newberg were able to race hard knowing that help was just a few seconds away. My Dad Tim, would especially like to thank the crew in the rescue boat that helped him after his blowover, as well as the abulance crew who took lots of time to check him out afterwards. Also thanks to all that helped get our boat back on the trailer.

Thanks again to everyone involved with the event, once again it was awesome.
