  • PUGH capsule test results!

    It's hapening right here in East Tennessee, but it's going europe! The UIM has a standard that all capsules pass a 3000N test. I dont know what a newton is, unless it's a Wayne Newton

    Ziggy Boettle did the test.

    Well, the testing was done a SST120 sample and it passed the 3000N requirement and failed at 5000N's.

    A sample was submitted using the suggested layup for the 3000N test. After passing 6000N's the testing was stopped as it appeared to be strong enough.

    The last step will be to produce a sample from the SST45 layup and submit that to see if it exceeds the 3000N test.

    After the paper work is approved, then out new F500 boats can compete for the 500cc european and world championships.

    N = lbs

    3000N = 674 lbs
    5000N = 1124 lbs
    6000N = 1348 lbs

      Thanks Bill,

      I knew there would be an engineer around here someplace.

      Now, can you explain the popularity of Wayne Newton?

            I dont think so. The test calls for a sample to be 4" by 30". The sample is then supported at each end with the weight/force applied to the center. That determines the breaking point.

              I was informed today that my safety cell samples have passed the APBA 3000N test.

              3000N = 674 lbs

                Newton

                Newton = unit of force: an SI unit of force equivalent to the force that produces an acceleration of one meter per second per second on a mass of one kilogram.
