I got to see them live in 1970, and got a ride in a big passenger-carrying version (powered by a Ford inline six mounted on a swivel and balanced atop the transom). Helmets and jackets? They wouldn't get to race at all if they were here! Huge entry fees, and they'd have to shroud the props and put capsules on the boats!
