  • TORC, Dunnville, T-boats - new class video

For the last 2 years TORC has been working closely with the T750/850 (13' Critchfield/Voodoo/Delta), a new class integrated into our club. Through the vision and dedicated committment of Don Whittington(veteran Tclass racer), he has resurrected this class, a resounding success for TORC, our members, and the Ontario Powerboat Racing Series.

2010 was a CBF probationary/demo year, and 2011 a competitive and exciting chase for CBF points.
At TORC's most recent venue, Dunnville, there were 12 T entries Sat & Sun, with another 4-6 drivers who couldn't come out due to other commitments. The class has approx 20 drivers in Ontario and growing fast. Many cottage racers were there to watch and learn for 2012.

Truth be told, a few 'old school' SO TORC purists were apprehensive, how it would fit into our schedule, and if there would be a dilution of the SO culture within the club. Today, there isn't a TORC member/spectator on shore that isn't watching the clock start, 5 lap heat show on our standard SO oval. This is competitive spin-out, hooking, pad hopping, side by side racing, on water best described an ocean after a couple of laps.

TORC is proud to provide the attached You Tube GoPro footage shot at Dunnville, our biggest 2011 SO CBF/APBA race event(81 entries). It was shot from Eryk Zonka's engine cowl, first time rookie racer, first heat of his first raceday.....just watch!....This is what puts smiles on faces, and makes clubs grow; those that pro-actively take control of what they can grasp for the future. Each year, TORC reaches to grasp more.

Through Don's/TORC's hard work, we couldn't be more pleased to have the T class an integral part of our club and future growth in all classes. 2 T racers have acquired hydro's(raced at DV), and we know of 4 newbies, acquiring engines and building hydro's for 2012.

At the risk of boring you, the benefits are obvious(revenue, volunteers, new blood, revived energy, people that want to make things happen,....), but you get all that....contact us for more info(ie: T-class rule book) to make it happen for your club....TORC would love to see this class resurrected in MI, NY and PA for a Can-Am racing series.

I'll tell you about TORC's success with Drags this year(14 entries at DV) in another thread,...Drag guys are wild, but a great, fun bunch.
