Day one of Pleasant Prairie Round 2 of the US Title Series was not a complete washout, but you could have probably left the milk out on the table today and it would not have spoiled. The rain finally let up around 1:30 and the course was opened for testing until 5. Good runs were made by a number of the 94 entries on the board as of now with a few more expected to register tomorrow morning before the drivers meeting and a couple of hours of test time for the classes to be run this weekend
The wet grounds really took their toll on the pit area as all heavy vehicles are parked on the road and parking lot instead of the grass at the water’s edge. Some mighty long commutes for some of the guys to the water. But, smiles all around were up and running as many of the drivers who were not able to hit Lake Alfred, Fl are in full force. That includes drivers from the East Coast, our Florida contingent and a west coast group out with us this weekend.
Most of the classes have anywhere between 8-12 entries with a couple over the 12 mark, with 11 1100R to hit the water as well. New drivers have joined up with the USTS with a number of them in brand new equipment to them, or indeed, new boats and motors.
Hopefully tomorrow we will have a warmer and less wet day for the Saturday classes as we get Round 2 into the books. Testing right after the drivers meeting and racing around 12:30 tomorrow as our President and pit boss Todd Brinkman gets everybody ready to go.
Round 3 will be in Springfield, Illinois the last weekend of June, followed up in July with the Speed Week start at Constantine for round 4, our USTS Nationals at Depue, with The Depue Men’s Club, our sponsor getting everything lined up for the next weekend at DePue, for round 5. This great event always starts on the last Friday of July with testing Wednesday and Thursday, with 3 days of racing commencing on Friday with the 5 modified classes joining in. Round 6, our final race of the year will be on Labor day weekend with racing Saturday and Sunday, with testing on Friday at Clarksville, Ar where the NBRA will also be holding their Nationals that weekend as well. This is a new race site for us and they are very excited to have the USTS joining up to put on our show there.
Will get the results from tomorrow up after a dinner at the Brat Stop to celebrate another great race.
