  • SPEEEEEEEEEED WEEEEEEEEEEK

Well here we are one week away from the most awesome week of boat racing in the Pro ranks. SPEEEEEEEEDWEEEEEEK is almost here.

Boats are getting the final look at the bottoms, engines are being gone through, the trailers and motorhomes are being loaded up as we all head to two of the smallest cities in the country for some knockdown drag out boat racing at its finest.

Joe Whetstone has left quite a legacy at the American Legion Post in Constantine, and those Joe worked with over the years and helped them to understand our crazy sport, have stepped right in and continue on the great tradition the week before the USTS Nationals. We miss Joe, but know that the Legion is preparing for our arrival next weekend for some great racing.

We unders3tand that we have a richness of "blessings" with lots of water at Depue this year and The Depue Men's Club have begun to put plan "B" or "C" or maybe "Z" in place as we prepare for the great USTS Nationals under the auspices of our great sponsor The Men's Club, with Slick, Trent, the MAYOR, Eric Bryant and band of merrymakers ready to welcome us at beautiful, full Lake Depue.

Remember Big Pal and Paulie will be parking trailers along Lake St. which is the road that would lead you directly down the ramp at the lakefront. Do not park anything without Paul or Paulie being a part of that, Please. It will take a lot of cooperation and I know we can accomplish that.

Below, please find the current standings with at least the top 3 in each class listed with points, and in some cases, I took it down to 4th or 5th with close races for the coveted USTS High Point Championship at stake.

Please be careful as you begin your journeys to one of the most fun weeks in all of our boat racing lives.

Well Ray after a meeting today at Lake Depue I we (the Men's Club) are working on plan AB . I just want to thank all the drivers and fans who come to Depue for your patience this year. The water is still high it's just about even with the white fence. I can tell you it's going to be the first time we are not doing a rain dance. We are looking forward to seeing our "family" again this year. Hope everyone has a safe weekend in Michigan and see you on Sunday night.

Anyone in Illinois next week not going up to Wakefield...Get over to Depue. Nothing crazier than full fields of Pro Hydro's and Runabouts!

A great field of boats have made the trek to the kick of speed weeks here in Constantine. Testing occurred all day for all classes ready to do battle. The beautiful Yvonne Koenig has come from Germany to join in the fun and will be entered in the 1100h class and at Depue in the 700 and 1100h classes. You may remember she scored the 700h championship at Depue a few years ago. Welcome Yvonne!!!!!

Water is up at Constantine, but gives a little more room to our drivers in their quest for a title which should make for some exciting racing. We understand that the water continues to recede at Depue which should help with the pits.

        Will report more tomorrow night

A great surprise for all of us this weekend was the appearance of Sean McKean who was seriously injured at Depue last year. Sean seems to be doing really well, walking around the pit area and was wonderful to see him.,
