Our troubles with weather are trivial compared to the hurt that sits on our European and American folks with the terrible news coming from the OSY 400 Worlds. Our condolences to the Peetsman family and to our European racing family. This is the greatest sport in the world, but it can bite us and today we are sadden by the news from across the ocean. May the Good Lord pour out his Spirit to help us to heal.
The day started off as a beautiful sunny day, and stayed cool as cloud cover came and went. However mid-afternoon, the wind kicked up and Mother Nature kicked us off the water as we finished about 75% of the regatta. We were able to run the one heat of 175H, but none of the 350R, and 700R heats and our apologies to them, but Mother Nature has a bigger mouth than I do, NOW HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?????
We started off the day at about 10:30 to include the classes that we were unable to run on Saturday due to the wind.
In 500R a great run for Brennan Burkland with his Dad the wrench Brad taking a little bit of solace and good feeling from this day as Brad's father passed away a few days before Winona. I think coming there and being with his "other" family helped them to deal with this and what a great day they had with finishes on the podium in both the 500r and 250H. We are truly sorry for their loss.
Mike Thirlby in the first heat showed his great speed as he went to the corner on the inside with 5 others side by side and came down the back stretch with the lead as was never headed. Derek Gessler was able to finish second for a one-two in the Gessler runabouts. Jared Gryskiewicz won a heat as did Derek Gessler, so the wins were spread out, but let me tell you the speed was unreal. Brennan put three good heats to finish in the second spot for the podium.

Gryskiewicz In 1100H Just say Amy Nydahl 3 times and you will have the result of the 1100H as she just cooked with that M-14 with Doug Hall finishing first in one heat and Amy winning the other two. She started in the back in the 1st heat and caught Doug just entering the bottom corner for the last lap and drove inside of him to beat him by about 2 boat lengths. Doug in the 3rd heat wanted to put his stamp on the heat and hit the starting line a millisecond after the clock reached zero and took it to the end. Rick Saver continues to impress the racing community with his driving and the speed in the M-4 and found himself with another podium finish.

In K-Pro Parker Thirlby continuing the great family legacy took home the K pro category with a 1st and 2nd in their two heats, with Lyndsay McGrath taking a 2nd and 3rd to Brianna Payn's one heat win and a DQ for jumping the gun. Lyndsay just about went over in milling and stopped on the course but only to have the clock problem and she was thus eligible to run the heat and for a great run for Lyndsay.

In the 125R JJ Walls continued his win streak with 3 heat wins over a good field with dominating wins. Happy Birthday to Jackson Hall who finished in the 2nd spot, while Drew Thirlby finished in the 3rd spot on the podium. JJ took each heat with a stamp on them as he will be a force in the USTS Nationals at Depue.

You want dominating 250H/350H? Let BJ Tetro show you that as he won every heat he entered in the Cronk Hydro running as smooth and fast as I have seen. Kurtis Nydahl gave him a heck of tussle in the first heat, but the engine quit in the bottom corner while close to BJ, and then the next heat, spun as he came through the bottom corner chasing him as well. Kurt's sister took her turn to chase BJ and she put three heats together to finish in the 2nd spot, but just could not catch BJ. Brennan Burkland lurking in all three heats put together the points to give him another podium and helped to get he and Dad through a tough week, congrats Brennan and Brad.

We were able to run only one heat of 175H as the wind really started to kick up while they were on the course and Jake Quesse driving a steady race, carefully, finished out in front of Ray Hammond up from Bartow, Fl.
We are truly sorry for the disruption of the event, but Mother Nature was going to have her way. We thank the drivers and crews for all of their co-operation and to the best Judges Stand Crew led by Denise Eldredge, many thanks to her and to Big Pal and our leader Todd Brinkman. We will see you in Constantine in 3 weeks.
