  • Winona Saturday

Well 82 entries made the trek to Winona to do battle with one another, however Mother Nature decided to open her big mouth and blew and blew and blew. We did get the 1st half of our Saturday program in, but as we got half way, Mother Nature got the whole way. White caps on the water forced a halt for a respite against the wind, but to no avail as Momma won out.

In the classes that were run beginning with the 500H's Rick Saver was to show once again how fast he has M-4 working. Unfortunately for him, he ended up one heat short with some gremlins and David Hooten, never one to knock twice, blew through the door and took home the win. Speed was plenty and action furious with 7 500's on the water. Doug Hall went out and won the first heat, had trouble coming off the beach in the second and died out, and then the engine went away in the 3rd heat. Doug was super fast in the first heat as he was at Pleasant Prairie. Ike Yoder drove his usual steady race and finished on the podium again.

    In 250R

Tim Small say it enough times and pretty soon you get the idea he did it again, taking the 250R class with heat wins to take home the win. In the first heat the gremlins were out in full view as both Rich Krier and brother Mike had major engine issues and never returned to the water. Joe Franck, driving a great race took home the 2nd spot, with Tim Chance boiling it up for the 3rd spot for him.

250H came up with Gary Buskirk the 2013 National Champ, along with Amy Nydahl and BJ Tetro and if you want to take a big gulp of air at a start they and the rest of the crew came to the starting line all abreast with those three setting off to the first turn together. BJ on the outside taking the long way around, ended up taking the 2nd spot behind Amy, but as they went down the backstretch, BJ went to work and pulled a lead as they entered the 3rd turn. After that, Amy had her engine load up, Gary settled into the second spot as BJ took the win. In the second heat they did it again with BJ and Amy in a dog fight for about 2 laps, but Amy took a slug of water and loaded up to finish out of the money in this heat with Gary finishing second and Ike Yoder 3rd for each of the two heats they ran.

Unfortunately in the first heat as Josh Burton headed into the first turn in the first heat, up and over he went, but he was okay, and as the question is asked did you guys have a good day, why yes we did, everyone went to the motel or motorhome tonight.

The 125's had more gremlins than boats as all of them had issues in the milling time frame in both of the heats and were not run for the 3rd heat either.

    No winner

Tomorrow we will start at 10:30 in the morning to run off the first day 2nd half of the program and then we will run Sunday's right after.

PS--We know you entered 350 hydro and it came out 250 H. I can't see Buzzy in a Pokey 250. Ho! Ho!
