  • THE IIIrd WINS HIS SECOND!

At the 2013 USTS Awards Banquet, the ZAK Award for the preceding racing season was presented to Paul Bosnich III, high point winner in 125 Runabout during the USTS season. For more specifics on the award see another post down the line.

Also scoring enough points in the class for second place was Tim Small, and third place was won by Andrew Thrilby.

Since this is the 20th year of the award, the organizers felt that proposals by David Tenney, son of a very good friend of Harry ZAK, many time national champion Bill Tenney, to try to make this year a really big one for the cash part of the award, and also pay that cash through three places, was an idea that had real merit. It was felt that if someone jumped out in front point wise in the early Florida races, that pay down to three places would keep interest and competition up for the award for the full season. The close point totals at the finish show it worked. Total cash contributed for the award totaled $2050.00 dollars, with Paul taking home 50%, Tim 30% and Andrew 20%, great rewards for great effort during the season.

The cash part of the $2050.00, and their individual amounts, were contributed by the following donors:

    Mike Krier 300.00

    David Tenney 250.00

Ed Provini 250.00 and loan of a 125 motor for the season

    Todd Brinkman 250.00

    Tim Small 150.00

    Gary Buskirk 100.00

    Craig DeWald 100.00

    Ray Rodda 100.00

    Ralph Donald 100.00

Jerry Peterson 100.00 (60's/70's racer and long time friend of
    Harry's)
    Anonymous Donor 100.00

Eileen and Bill Van Steenwyk 300.00 (includes small permanent trophy and
    name plate for permanent trophy)

In addition the following donors made the merchandise or labor contributions:

Steve Litzell 100.00 value in spark plugs

Pete Nydahl 100.00 value in crank or motor work

Rex Hall 100.00 value in crank or motor work

Derek Gesler 100.00 value in pipe repair or contruction

Mike Krier and I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the three winners of the award for 2013, and especially thank the contributors to the award this year. Without those contributors carrying on the thought and remembrance of Harry Pasturcsak and the contribution he made to the USTS and others in the first years of Title Series, the award could not have stood the test of time for the 20 years it has.

These contributions, and the donors, over the years have stood for exactly what Harry did. In remembrance of him, "helping anyone, anytime, no matter the circumstances."
