  • Brand new 1996 350 Yamato in box

Today I was going through some stuff that was my father Jim's, and saw a wooden crate I have seen many times. Dad always kept these crates and never would let them go. In the past I would see them and ignore them. Until today, I moved it and it was heavy. Opened it up and there was a brand new Yamato 350 four cylinder with everything except pipes (they are there, just have to go through boxes). Still has custom papers on box. Never run, in plastic and perfect. This was a casualty of the new Rossi's and better running motors. It has a letter saying "congratulations on your new 350cc Yamato 110 hp motor..." Don't think it is worth much, but someone might get a joy out of it. There is a brand new Yamato 12/13-15 gear case, they (the case) seem to be popular these days. What do you think, any help would be great!!

Sean, This engine should be in someones collection/museum, and I would think it's worth $3000 if you don't find any takers among the collectors I would probably give $2000 for it and see that it runs in the USTS next season. Thanks, Brian

P.S. That should get the bidding started

Thanks for the messages and reply's, this is fun, never thought I would find something like this. Many years ago I was looking for something at my mom's and moved a cardboard box, same thing except a M-80 in the box. Told mom and she didn't believe, but was very happy once she saw it (that was forgotten for 25-30 years). I will reply to everyone, just want to see where this goes. Thanks!

Is this motor for sale, and did you find the pipes?

Mike Jones, ex-APBA president and Reg. 10 old-timer who has "done it all" is now a collector, I understand. He recently bought a complete, very clean, early piston-port RB-5 from Howard Shaw, and maybe he would be interested in having a late reed-valve motor.

The motor is #54 and has a 13:15 horizontal gearcase. Everything but pipe bracket and pipes in the box (i.e. headers, carbs, steering brackets included). Need to find the pipes/brackets. Have many sets of used pipes. Still looking for the new ones. Yes it is for sale.

Found the pipe bracket, in box with same serial #. Have two sets of used pipes and a set of new muffled pipes. Still looking for the new pipes (they should be there somewhere). Also found a 350 four pipe pipe bracket assy new in box. Bob Rusnak has a 350 that could use this.

Sean, maybe we can find all the rest of the parts for this 350. I took it apart and it is in mint condition inside. I am sure there is a buyer for this engine when complete. I was thinking of flying down to see you guys since the Disney thing has been cancelled. Maybe around the first Monday thing you have in Texas. This way I can see what you have in parts.
