  • Sunday at Pleasant Praire

The day dawned very nice and was significantly warmer than Saturday, but unfortunately that did not last long, as the wind and clouds re-appeared, but we were able to get all racing in.

Had a safe weekend with only Todd Anderson hitting the water on the backstretch in 125R on Sunday. Otherwise off like clockwork with Todd and Sue leading our crew.

In the 125R class, Paul Bosnich took home the win with two firsts and a 3rd to Tim Small who had a problem in the first heat, won the second driving Ed Provini's (sp?) rig very well. Andrew Thirlby finished 3rd overall and his starts are just outstanding as you can see the Thirlby line coming into play.

250H had 10 boats to start and Kurt Nydahl, showed a bunch of wily veterans the way with 2 heat wins, loaded it up in the 3rd heat but was able to gain enough spots after it cleared to take it home. Sister Amy completed a nice 250 category for the Nydahl family taking the 2nd spot, and Eric Schmidt finishing third. Poor BJ Tetro and Jeff Kugler had the gremilins just bite the dickens out of them and were unable to finish a heat.

Well this one was for the history books as Rich Krier went out and won the first heat, everybody except Tim Small jumped the gun in the second heat, so the third heat you had two with 400 and Brian Payn with 300 all ready to go for the gusto, and wow, was it a race. Rich and Tim were side by side for 3 laps until something let go in Tim's motor and gave Rich the lead. Brian Payn was not done yet and began to creep up on Rich down the backstretch of the last lap, but Rich had enough to hold him off at the finish.

Well to me this was interesting as Eric Schmidt went out and won it all, but not without 587473466 year old John Madrell showing the guys how to do it as he finished a nice 2nd overall for the medal, Congrats John. Kurtis Nydahl finished a nice weekend of racing with the 3rd spot.

headed to Winona in a month for a Friday late afternoon/Saturday finish up there.

Thanks to our USTS crew and our turn judges and teardown/setup volunteers.
