Bright and sunny day at the beach? No, windy cold day worthy of me purchasing a USTS sweatshirt and a jacket to go with it. Wind out of the east at 20+mph kept us off the water until about 11:45, a little test time and off we went for a complete race day.
First up were 6 250R's
Unfortunately for him, Paulie Bosnich bad luck was at both ends of the spectrum, 2' of water in the basement, and a balky 250 motor. For those who know Depue, water on first street, west restroom building water 2/3 up on the wall.
Chris Hellsten behind the wheel of Bruce Nicholson's Miss Laurie II following Tim Small through the bottom corner, somehow, someway, put back on it's bottom and straight to finish 2nd in the first heat while Tim went dead in the 2nd heat with Chris winning. Andrew Thirlby doing what he needed with 2 seconds and a 4th finished on the podium as Tim came back to win the 3rd heat for 2nd overall.

12 350's were ready to go as Zach Malhiot took heat number one with an absolute hard win as he and David Mitchell went side by side for 4 syntilating laps. In the second heat all but 3 jumped the gun and David Mitchell was one who kept from it. That gave him a real leg up as Gary Buskirk who won on the water was a GJ'r. David won the 3rd heat, but not before almost going on his head in the bottom corner. Michael W. Schmidt finished W/2nd, 3rd to take a podium. Zach threw a blade in the 3rd heat and did not finish in 3rd heat.

7 125H's ready for battle as David Tenney proved to be the class of the field with 3 straight heat wins. Todd Anderson and Tim Chance collided on the last turn of the 3rd heat, but no serious injuries, Todd a small cut on the hand. Glad both okay. Poor Jake Quesse had the Depue luck, burnt a piston and never made it back to the water. Pete Kelly in that brand new TBR drove very well and also finished on the podium.

3K-Pros, proved just enough for Rookie Brandon Mills to win his first race and receive the traditional dunking at the hands of his mentor Pete Kelly and Ben Thompson. Wendy Eldredge took one of the heats from Brandon, and Parker Thirlby took home 3rd.

8 500R's hit the 1st turn with Tim Small in the 2 cylinder Rossi ran off and hid for 2 heats, with Derek Gesler having none of that in the 3rd heat. Pete Voss finishing with 2nd's and a third took an overall 2nd. Derek broke the speed record for 3/4 mile record by about 4mph.

In 500H David Hootenanny took 2 of the 3 heats, but no walk in the park as it was great to see Tom Adkins take one and close 2nds in the other two, with Ike Yoder finishing 3rd overall. Tom had not been in a boat for 5yrs, but has finished on the podium in the first two races back.

Everyone safe and David Tenney, Tim Small, Brandon Mills, Derek Gesler, David Hooten, and David Mitchell all set new 3/4 mile records on the surveyed course. Thanks again to a great judges stand crew with Sue Sailer and Tood Brinkman leading the best!!!
