      Amazing

I am just amazed that a community can come together and out the effort in to make a boat race happen. And then I look at the residents on lakes that we race at that just don't want us around...and I go..you know...maybe you people should look beyond the box and see what REALLY matters...we bring money into a community, we provide free entertainment, and we matter to a lot of people. The video of the volunteer effort being put forward to make the race happen at De Pue should be available to anybody that wants it....and we should use that video to promote racing and the way it can bring a community together. I would love to have the one person at our'e Silver Lake Eatonville regatta see that video...and then have her tell us she does not want us around. Just a random thought from a stock racer. Dave

Boat racing in DePue is a tradition, not just a novelty like most other race sites. Since past and present racers live there this effort is helping neighbors out as well as the town. When I get there next week I hope to meet the mayor and shake his hand.

Can you e-mail me separately at jschubert@wi.rr.com. I have a few things that I'd like to discuss regarding the reunion & perhaps something that you can do to spice it up a bit. I've probably met you, just can't recall, so looking forward to talking with you in Depue. I'll be there early afternoon on Tuesday to make sure everything is coming together.

Your right Dave. Did you notice they were working on the carb. I think Dwight always primes it with some of his "MUG JUICE" and then its raring to go for another NATIONALS!

Riding that tractor is defiantly one reason my dad heads to DePue every year. I am not sure about my dad but this will be my 16th straight year making the pilgrimage to Beautiful Lake DePue. I cannot imagine a year without it. While there was talk of not running at DePue, my dad and I were discussing still going just to go.

I think The Village has secured there spot as the best boat racing fans ever, anywhere, period!

From a contact I had from someone there yesterday, they were pumping the water in and a couple guys with baseball bats were having batting practice on asian carp in the discharge water. Water level was rising but volume needed is immense.

We are getting some help from mother nature tonight as showers and thunderstorms are coming thru the area. Could be a long night for the pump guards , but I am sure they wont mind!!!!

Even more important is the heavy rain they are getting in Chicago. Most of that will make its way into the Illinois river. One of the dam designers took into consideration the chance the river could rise with a heavy rain so they installed a tube to allow water to come in that way also.
