  • Winona 2nd Day

The day started out muggy with a few rain showers around, but really got down to pouring as the 125H hit the water. You could barely see the first turn as they were milling and Nic Thompson, our referre called the heat and we waited it out for about a 30minutes, which put us behind the 8 ball, but Todd Brinkman, our race director kept us going in the right direction.

The first class of the day was 250R, with Rich Krier showing tremendous speed with the second heat being one for the books. Rich started toward the back, the water was a little lumpy, but as Rich said, "he hit the throttle and the boat just jumped up and took off." Rich won two of the three heats with a donny brook with brother Mike in the first heat and Paulie Bosnich took the third heat as Rich took a second. JP Jedwabny drove an absolute steady race and was able to take the third spot overall.

125H kicked up next after the rain storm and David Tenny continues to show the speed that has just been over and above anything we have seen in a long time. He took two heat wins, laid back as he should in the third heat to keep from jumping the gun, but was able to get by everyone except Brian Palmquist who took the win.

    Brian Palmquist
    Kurtis Nydahl

    500R
Tim Small with the brand new 500 GRM 2 cylindar ran off with 2 heat wins very convincingly. Tim either took the lead going into the first turn, or tracked the field down as he did in the 3rd heat as he as David Tenny did in the 3rd heat, starting way back. Derek Gesler driving a rig formely owned by Tony Judd, and then Pete Nydahl finished in the 2nd spot, the boat being one that Tony campaigned as a 250R......geez

    Mike Thirlby

    125R
Paulie Bosnich showed the field his speed, David Jones showed us the other side of the lake about 3 times as he came by the judges stand as David aggressively moved up on the wheel each time to keep it right side up. David took it skyward at Winterhaven, Fl earlier this year, but finished second to Paulie with Drew Thirlby winning the third heat on the field and finished 3rd over all.

    350H
How do you say you all jumped the gun in the second heat, well I guess that is what you say.

Gary Buskirk dominated the first heat starting about 4th or 5th back and caught them all before it was over and took home the 1st heat, 2nd heat washed out with the GJ, and the third heat went to Amy Nydahl who was very busy this weekend. Ike Yoder driving as he always does, steady and smart, finished in the third spot.

    175H
Our first incident of the day spilled Jon Wienandt right in front of the judges stand. Jon was AOK and we went on with Amy Nydahl in that beutiful red Euro boat took home both heats. Amy won the 250H category on Saturday and doubled up with this win. David Tenny with some issues in the first heat was able to move his way up to second overall and Brennan Burkland driving his own race finished in the third spot overall.

    Amy Nydahl
    David Tenny
    Brennan Burkland

How do you say dominate, Doug Hall X 3 in 500H.

Doug was dominate in the first heat with all boats running as he ran away and hid. The second and third heats, while no walk in the park, had Sean McKean and Mark Griskiewicz sidelined. Mark G has shown some great speed this year and is very competitive with the field and great to see that.

    Doug Hall
    Ike Yoder
    Mark G

Thanks to Sue Sailer, her crew, Nic Thompson, Todd Brinkman, and the guy that is the everywhere man, the energy bunny, Paul Bosnich.

Agreed. I would put you in any of my rigs and be confident.
