  • Lowell Shumacher--RIP

Boat racing lost a legend Friday night at Menominee Wi. when Lowell Shumacher died of an apparent heart attack. Lowell was a Pro boat racer and great boat builder and innovator. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers go out to his family. He was a very good friend.

Owned one Boat built by lowell Great boat--converted it to a capsule boat in the early days of Pro capsules, learned about capsules then, boat went to Ike Yoda with the idea of adding to the Pro capsule ranks and it did as Ike Is at every race with a capsule boat. Thanks Lowell for your innovation and skills adding to the Pro Ranks you will be missed.

I got to know Lowell through our phone conversations,
talking to him about this 500PRO boat he built
for Dan Kirts in the early '80s
He was pleased to know it was still 'around', and valued.
30 years later it still looks fast. Early 2000 he built a 350PRO replica
that I saw run in FL, c2005, and ran well.
He certainly was one of the innovators in our sport.
