  • Winter Haven day 2

Will be more tomorrow early flight out of Tampa

Great weather and water today, but should have known tough day coming, with testing going at noon and at 12:02 David Jones in a 125r went upside down, he was okay and raced later in the day. Paulie Bosnich went over sideways in the bottom corner and he too was okay as he was able to dry out his 125R as well.

Not done yet as Rob Erbel climbed the ole rooster tail at the start of 250 and suffered some rib and shoulder issues, he was talking and helping safety crew with diagnosing injuries. Later in 350R, tim Small and Mike Krier collided and Mike had a slight cut on the leg, Tim was okay.

Amy Nydahl won her first drive in the first heat of 1100H driving for Thirlby Automotive. She ended up 3rd overall as she finished 5th in second heat and Jim Kirts, USTS 2011 1100H hi point champ, starts off strong with winning 2nd heat and overall win. Sean Mckean put together good finishes to finish 2nd

    Amy

When Amy won the first heat the crowd went nuts, way to go Amy

    125r Dom Difebo
    175h Jimmy Aderholt
    250h.Amy Nydahl
    350r Brian Payn

In the 125R Dom and Paulie Bosnich were really after it with one another when Paulie tripped the chine and over he went, sore but okay. Dom went on to win the heat and take the 400 points. Second heat Dom was way out front when the pipe slipped and Buddy Tennell was able to get around him, but it was all Dom in the third and final heat and he took home the North American Championships which were sponsored by Ed Provini. Yesterday David Tenney won the 125H which was sponsored by Tom Cronk and Tec Craft and Keller Hardware. Thanks to both Ed and Tom.

In 175H Charlie Bradley driving the former rig of Ralph Donald won both heats of the class, unfortunately, Charlie was a little early in the first heat along with 4 other drivers and it ended up that Jimmy Aderholt won the first heat.

Jimmy finished the 2nd heat behind Charlie and ended up winning overall, congrats to Jimmy.

In the first try of 250H Rob Erbel took off as he climbed rooster tail and ended upside down. He cartwheeled twice over the water and ended up right in front of the judges stand and was stunned pretty good.

In 250H David Mitchell jumped out ahead of the field and had about a half of a lap lead. in the 2nd heat Michael W. Schmidt driving a new to him Euro boat, pink at that!!!! came out of nowhere and put on a driving show that was unreal, he passed Mitchell and as he exited the 1st turn the engine let go and later so did David's.

Amy Nydahl driving a steady race ran into a loaded engine for about 3 laps, but cleared it out and ended up taking the 250 title. In one of the heats the good wrench work of Pete Nydahl, her Dad proved to be the top work, as she ended up the only boat running when we had started with 10.

350R turned out to be a kick in the can as Tim and Mike had collided as I had indicated and then Rich Krier had some issues. Great to have Joe Franc with us from MN. Welcome Joe and great weekend as he finished second overall in some to the toughest 350's in the country on the water.

Again, Thanks to Gary Levin, Walt, from the Citrus Center, and Bill Hosler. We hope to get back to Lake Cannon at Winter Haven again next year.
