DePue not in charge

If it were up to the people of DePue this would have been done 17 years ago when the site was put on the Superfund list. The EPA and the DePue Group , the owners of the site CBS\Viacom and exxonmobil , are in charge and they make the rules. DePue is learning you cant fight big buisness. I give the Village of DePue alot of credit for doing whatever they can to try and speed up the process and hope someday the Village of DePue will finally get cleaned up.

When the parties involved had an informational meeting a couple years ago the statement was made that before the lake was addressed they wanted to make sure the sources of any future contamination was cleaned so once the lake was done it could not happen again, which make sense. Now make no bones about it , Lake DePue is in a flood plan and when dredged , if done at all , will last as long as yearly floods alllow it to. The last time it was done was the early 80's so we have been fortunate to get 30 years out of a 10-12 foot dredging. When the first dredging was done there was funding to do the entire lake all the way out to the Illinois River but at the last minute half the funding was given to other projects in the state so all that was done was basically the boat racing course and little else.
