I am truly sorry to hear that news Ben. My thoughts go out to the Eldredge family. It is very difficult to loose someone that has meant so much too so many people. Don was one of my favorites at the PRO races. Don loved racing. I will miss him at DePue this year- it won’t be the same. He was a friendly person and a great competitor. He began racing right after the war (WWII) in Massachusetts. The number of decades that he competed is often larger than the years that others have raced! He was one of the first American drivers to laydown in a hydro. He had developed some hip problems and couldn’t comfortably kneel-down anymore. Lying down was more comfortable… eventually he had a hip replacement and kept on racing. I remember getting him in one of my elimination heats at the Nationals. In his distinctive US-2 laydown boat- we went sponson to sponson for four laps. The same thing happened the next year too. He was a force behind David, a very competitive driver. Later he would be found in the pits working on his grandson’s 125cc hydros. Yes, I will miss Don… but I have many fond memories!

Dam, This is sad news! Don and Marshall are my contemporaries, Marshall one year older and Don one year younger. We go back more than fifty years. I will miss seeing him at the races greatly! Hang on Marshall!

            So sad

To the entire family, we are saddened by Don's loss and will miss him greatly, he always had a smile and a wave of the cane for me, and I will never forget that smile that lit up his whole face.

This is sad news. My condolences to the entire, extended and historic Eldredge family.

Don was a great person to be around and we got to know him during the short period he was in California - many years ago. I enjoyed visiting with him lately on the few times we had a chance to meet.
