If we are to play by the UIM rules, then do it. They UIM uses "beach" starts and that is the way it should be done or don't apply for a World Championship. Seems we are always changing rules for some reason, example OSY, UIM rules and APBA rules are different, why?. It should all be the same. Hope it is a real World Championship and not a combination of our 125's and 175's. Another note, any one from another country can enter our Nationals and use the clock start...Just my oponion.....Bob
All our races should be beach start. Very spectator friendly. The only fans that know how clock starts work are in DePue. That's because we've raced there for 50+ years. Just sayin!!!!
Beach starts are much more fun for the spectators and crew. I still remember racing in Saginaw, MI in 1989; that was one of the most fun events I have been to because every class ran a jetty start. Also, it's a UIM race, it should be a "no-brainer".
And they are ten times safer than any type of clock start. Pat there hae been numerous accidents in depue while milling but only one on a lemans start.
We used the beach start for the 500cc Sprint in 2008 at DePue. It worked perfect. I don't see why there is even any discussion on it. This is a Worlds Championship. The Worlds means jetty start. Do it right!
Jimmy..........just cause us old guys like the clock starts doesn't mean we can't learn new tricks. If an old dog like us can still race......we can still learn new tricks.
Only reason there is this feeling that beach starts are so great is because we do not do it --its like a new girl friend something different--I'm not going to argue witch is better for the fans as those who want a new girl friend will only disagree. I like my old girl friend and I have had many people say the complete opposite about Jetty starts---hey wait a minuite we don't even have Jettiesloloololo
