Wow, that is all I can say to one of the most beautiful venues in the U.S. for a boat race. A great crowd greated the Steamboat Days regatta and the U.S. Title Series did not disappoint them.
Because of their great parade on Sunday, the Steamboat Regatta starts on Friday night and you have those results. Saturday gave us a couple of hours of test time and then it was time for Bev Krier to fire the 3 minute gun.

BJ Tetro took 2 heats and finished 2nd in the 3rd as everyone tried to get him to jump, but he hung back just right and was able to get around everyone except Amy for the win overall

In 175 Ralph Donald completed the only heat run of 175 and Brad Greenslaugh added to his Title Series point lead with a second.

The third heat had Tim Small, Mike Krier, and Brian Payn vying for the championship of Steamboat Days. Brian at the 3 minute gun came out only to have the pipe slip off and he was done for the heat. That left Tim and Mike to battle it out. Thanks to Tim Chance, Rich Krier was back on the water with a Tim's Y-200 after destroying the front end in the collision on Friday night. Unfortuantely Rich was able to finish only one heat as he used up a good motor in the 1st heat. He put it back together and ran the field down for a 3rd heat win, with Br. Mike in 2nd and Tim Small for 3rd.

Vinnie Buskirk took the K-Pro with 3 heat wins and then both he and Baylee Burkland were BG in the last heat of the their "grudge" match.

David Jones adds to his Title Series point lead, driving the David Tenny entry with 2 wins and a 2nd. Paulie Bosnich had motor trouble, but put him in a 3rd place finish with Andrew Thirlby the meat in the sandwich.

Ever hear the term ran away and hid, well Jeff Kugler did just that with 3 heat wins in 350H. Jeff had perfect starts, perfect motor, and driving ability as he was 3 for 3

Brian Payn took home the big 500R over all in the Pat and Jim Wright entry. What was fun was with a brand new 500R driver Brennan Burkland finishing in the 2nd spot, congrats Brennan, and Pete Voss adding more points after his win at Monomonee. Mike Thirlby struggled in the first two heats not able to compete, but you know they will figure it out, and that Mike did and took home the 3rd heat in style, never headed from the start.

Well Sean McKean has it going as he won the first two heats, but not without a heart murmur. In the first heat he ran past Doug Hall on the back stretch and I do not remember that happening in a long time. After the heat was over, Sean went dead coming back into the pits. Jim and crew worked the magic and out for the second heat he came and took that in style. This only after having gone dead in the bottom turn and sitting watching everyone run past him.
Then it happened. Mark Grysckiwicz had an engine go south exiting the bottom turn. Mark tried to turn into the infield, but Jim Kirts had turned inside of Mark and Jim had nowhere to go. He hit the back of Mark's capsule and tore the whole right sponson and decking off the boat. Mark's suffered repairable damage, but the good news is the capsules did the job and neither was hurt.
Well the heat being called allowed Sean to retry and did he ever make the best of it with a heat win. In the 3rd heat, Ike Yoder got a great start and won that one.
Brianna Johnson had a great weekend in her capsule running all 6 heats of capsule classes and took 3rd overall. Congrats Brianna.
Again my thanks to Sue Sailer and Denise and all the judges stand along with Fred Scheletty. You cannot run a Title Series race without Todd Brinkman at the controls and with Paul-BIG PAL-Bosnich picking us all up.
