Testing Over, Let the races begin
Two full days of testing have been completed with many of the 205 entries completing hundreds of laps around what would be about a 1 mile course.
Testing went well, with a few minor incidents and everyone seems to be ready to go. 25 125 Hydros have checked in, with 20 250 Hydros, 12 500 runabouts to boot. There are 8 or more capsules for the 500/700/1100H this year. Yvonne Koenig of Germany did not make the trip over to defend her
700H championship, but we expect her to be behind the wheel of a Thirlby Automotive entry at the worlds in Lake Alfred in October.
Local drivers Paulie Bosnich, Steve Neissen, Jake Walk, and David Anderson, were all busy preparing for some tough championship heats, but most are confident that they are ready to vie for championships at Lake Depue. It was great to see Nick Nothe back from Mt. Home AFB up in Idaho. Welcome home Nick!
The water is starting to receed and we saw the first evidence of the seawall this morning as the water dropped about 8" overnight. It went down further today, but we still have about 8-9' of raceable water on the course. The ever present outside course markers though, remind our drivers to stay away from the very shallow water on the shoreline.
Drivers meeting at 8am tomorrow with the first heats to get off at about 1pm. The Depue Men's club have been busy setting things up and have a full concession stand going at the shelter.
More tomorrow!
