Another beautiful day in the neighborhood was had by both spectators, drivers and crews. What a beautiful place to race, wow, now I know why the Stock Crew love the place. Great crowd both yesterday and today.
We had two incidents during the day but no injuries thank goodness. Bruce Summers was tossed out of his V-81 in 250H, number just a few years older than Bruce, but do not tell him I said that. Went into turn one hot in pusuit of the leader and dug in and out he went. Bruce was just fine and had a couple of laughs together while filling out the report. Cannot keep a good man down, glad you were okay Bruce.
Andrew Thirlby at the start of the 3rd heat of 125 runabout, stood it on its tail not once, but twice and the second time it bit him as the boat came down just a little out of straight, and you can guess the rest. But, Andrew was having fun today as he told me after he did the incident report. Well he should say that, as he had two thirds amongst some stout competition.
A total of 39 entries for our 5 classes added to the I believe 44 entries yesterday to have over 80 for the weekend. Nice turnout for the first midwest race this weekend.
The first class of the day was 125r with 7 entries. Tim Schultz caught everyone napping and had a lead of about 100 yards before the rest of the field crossed the starting line. Big Pal, with a good hearty laugh says Paulie and his playmates all went to Wrigley field to see the Cub game, think he might have been right. Paulie Bosnich finished in the second spot and Andrew Thirlby finished 3rd.
Gun Jumpers and a hit bouy caused real trouble in the 2nd heat. Paulie Bosnich and Dominic DeFebo had a heck of a battle which resulted in Dominic diving inside Paulie repeatedly only to strike a bouy in the first turn and was disqualified for the heat. What a race up to that point though, as each of them giving no quarter as it should be. Paulie in the second heat found a handful of boat as he came out of the bottom corner and kept sliding and the boat wanting to go where it wanted to. He shut if off pretty close to the judges stand and jumped out and reached down to find the skag had completly broken off from the unit. YIKES, going on your head can be the result if not careful.
Dominic won a heat, David Jones won a heat, and Tim Schultz won a heat, other than that no real thrills as to who might win this thing. David driving for David Tenny was unable to finish any other heat, Dominic finished second in the first heat to go with a heat win, but Tim finished all three heats to take home the title.

As indicated Bruce Summers went out of the boat in the first heat and was unable to run the other two heats. He will be BAAAAACCC***, hope that all is well.
Brennan Burkland put together his first 250H ride, thanks to Ike Yoder. Ike is the most likable guy you will run into and always is volunteering along with his Pop Bob. Thanks for helping to get Brennan on the water.
A total of 10 entries challenged Jeff Kugler who was trying to double up with the 250H title to his 350H title won yesterday, but it was for naught as a third place finish in the third heat gave the win to Brandon Thirlby.
The first heat saw two gun jumpers and with Melvin Cooper and Mike Schmidt having been tossed everyone moved up two spots and that was just what Brandon needed to take the title on points.
Curt Hellsten finished with a heat win, second and a fourth, but the winner overall was Brandon Thirlby as I indicated, Brandon had the gift of moving up 2 spots in that first heat because of gun jumping, but won it with a hard charge for a second in the second heat, by charging from the back and then taking a well deserved first in the third heat.
Congrats Brandon! Now as if he does not get enough racing, he brought is Stock Car to Pleasant Praire and is headed to three races in Southern Illinois this week. What a guy!

350R game out of the gate with 7 entries. Repeat after me, Tim Small Tim Small Rich Krier....Tim Small is having a great start to the 2010 season as he not only took the 250R class, but doubled up with a 350R title to go with it. Tim was absoultley on fire for the weekend. 5 heat wins out of six and he and Rich Krier finished the third heat with Rich winning by about a half a boat length win.
Brian Payn in the second heat gave Tim all he wanted but, Tim had too much for Brian and finished out front.
Tim we thank you for your efforts in behalf of the Title Series and for me personally for what you have done.

175H was up next with 10 enties for two heats of racing in store. Jimmy Aderholdt of Alabama puts my theory back in play. Boat racing has to quit you before you can quit it, and Jimmy is back racing again with a 175. Congrats Jimmy welcome back.
Amy Nydahl won the first heat with Buddy Tennel having jumped the gun and was the winner on the water with Amy seemingly finishing second, but when the camera told us the story, Buddy was without points in that heat. Wonderful to see that Amy and Diane Murray, Amy Eldredge finished 1-2-3 in that heat. Diane had won down at Ocoee and set the 3/4 mile record as well, so our dis-staff side is holding their own.
But alas the gremilins were out in full force as Amy was unable to fire her motor in the second heat Buddy went out and won the heat to give him 400 points. Ralph Donald finished second in one heat and third in the other to take home the title on points. Congrats Ralph a nice weekend for Ralph.

1100h was up next with 5 entries, but Doug Hall had to scratch. As the gun fired Mark Gryskiewicz carried the luck of the brothers with him and the motor died a few yards out of the pits. The pits is what Pete and his team felt like, as I said to Pete without bad luck, they would have had no luck at all. Brother Jared stuggled all weekend in 500 and 350R and Mark in 500H yesterday. They will be as Bruce Summers BAAAACCCk
Sean McKean just had a great time as he put the hurt on the 1100H competiors with two heat wins. Sean was grinning ear to ear as his pit chief, Billy brought him back to the pit area. Sean showed that famous speed, having run through traps at over 132mph earlier this Spring. Congrats Sean great to see the run.

Again my thanks to our officiating crew, with Sue leading the way, Todd, Fred, and our Turn Judges for the weekend, and who can get along without big Paul Bosnich, he is everywhere and with a smile, my Bud, thanks Paulie.
What a great time at Pleasant Praire, with hopefully many more years of racing there to come.
