I do not have the final results, as our scorers are digging through two straight weekends of results. I knew this was going to be a good show, as the pits were filling-up quickly early on Thursday. The USTS looks forward to this race as much as any on the annual schedule. Joe and the Post once again were well prepared and were great hosts.
All-in-all, the weather was very nice for the weekend and cooler than in recent years. The wind blew steady from Friday through Sunday and really lifted the bows of boats on the front stretch Saturday. It is a testament to the ability of the USTS drivers that not one incident report was required for the weekend's event.
If my memory serves me correctly, there were 9 heats of racing in Saturday's first flight and there were 9 different heat winners. How do you get better competition than that? These classes were 350cc hydro (11 boats), 250cc runabout (12 boats) and 500cc runabout (10 boats).
The largest classes of the weekend were 125 hydro (16), 250cc hydro (14) and 350cc runabout (13). All classes but the capsule boats had 8 or more entries, so we were pleased with the total boat count given the current economy.
