Mike Krier and I are happy to announce the first committment/contribution to the 2009 ZAK Award that will be presented to the High Point USTS Driver in 125 CC Runabout for the upcoming 2009 USTS racing season.
David Tenney, son of Bill Tenney, who was the importer of the Anzani Outboard Racing engines in the years after WW II, and also an outboard driving legend and many time national champion and record holder, has pledged a 250.00 cash award to the winner of the 125 Runabout for 2009 USTS races.
If you know the history between Bill Tenney and Harry Pasturczak, it is only fitting that the Tenney name be associated with this award. Bill and Harry were close friends who shared many ideas and solutions toward making the "alky" outboards of the 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's faster and more dependable. Thank you David, for starting the 2009 Award off with a bang.
David will be a competitor in 125 Runabout himself in 2009, but has already decided that if by good fortune he would end up as the winner, the pledge he has made will go to another deserving driver in 125 Runabout, with that judgement being made by David, Mike, and I together, based on other criteria to be determined.
