  • Tom Kirts

I just received a phone call that Tom Kirts passed away last night. He was a great runabout driver and has been invaluable helping keep the weeds under control all these years so we can all race in Constantine. I will miss "Groucho" and that scowl and sneaky smile. There are no funeral details at this time. Condolences from my family and the USTS to the whole Kirts clan

    Groucho

    Kristi:
I just spoke to Jr. and he told me he thinks it was a massive heart attack, he said he hasn't spoken to him in a couple of weeks but when he did he said he wasn't feeling well. Jr. is living in North Carolina with the ARCA Racing Series and he was in Ohio for a race when he go the call a little while ago and he is on his way to Indiana right now and he is going to keep me posted (the best he can) and if I hear anything I will let everyone know.

R.I.P. Groucho you will be missed!!

I just can not believe this. We were just at Constintine and saw both Willie and Tom. What a great loss to the boat racing family. Both were 500 Runanout (CRR) drivers and the best in there time. They are both Champions and two of the best in Pro Racing. Bob, Don, Rusnak & Lorraine (Rusnak) McKean..........N-9, N-96, T-4

I can't add anything to what Bob has already said, I too talked to both Tom and Willie at Constantine. Life is just too short. I'm stunned.

                Wow

Hard to believe, so many boat racing memories include Tom. He was the one to beat for so many years. Rest in Peace, Rich & Bev

The entire Kirts family has been a huge part of the lives of the Sevison family. My dad, Gary, grew up with Dan and Tom, and even lived with them for a time.

When I drove in my first 250H heat, in Coldwater, MI, Tom was at the rope. I finished second, almost beating Dad. When I came back into my pits, all I could see was Tom's big smile behind his big cheesy mustache...LOL

I have many memories of Tom, but that one always makes me smile.

All God's blessing to the entire Kirts family.
