Is Marshall the oldest champion ?

I am trying to remember , but can not recall , If there has ever been anyone in the Pro category older than Marshall to win a National ?

Gibby Peterman??

Not really shure of Gib's age but he won 3 National Championships in three consecutive years. I know he was in his mid 70's then. Gib was still racing at 80 years old, one yeay later at 81 Gib was no longer with us.

I e-mailed APBA HQ, and Gloria told me that they don't keep track of stats by age. Either way, it's a great story, and I'm glad I got to be to share in the moment. Grandpa is gonna run next year at least, who knows after that. He'll be 79 on Halloween.

True fact, Gibby Petermann raced against four generations of Eldredges. I got to run against Gibby a couple of times when I first started running 250 Hydro and he dates back to when he ran the Albany-New York Marathon with my Great-Grandfather, Marshall, Sr. We miss Gib a great deal, he was truly one of a kind.
