I am not questioning the speeds given. If they are going as fast as reported, I would like to know how. Props, boats, trim adjustements? The engines are very close.

I have have to drop weight to be get more competitive off the beach and it will not hurt at the Nationals either.


Cypress Gardens was an eye opener in 350's. Remember, US drivers were kicking butt in 700 until all their boats were destroyed. BTW - Japanese team should have won using a Yamato and US style boat in 350 hydro. Otherwise, Italians were dominant racing over that ocean. Of course, one might assume that nothing in US has changed since 1997.

We will not give up until the fat lady sings, even if she sings in Italian.

David, where can I find a layout of the course. I dont understand why the course would be set up the way you described. Why is it not set up the way we drive here in the states. It always seems like the course here is set up to help out the Europeans. I dont think they changed the course layout when the Americans compete over there. Never understood this

The course layout is shown on www.raceforthekids.net web-site. One of the buttons on the left side has all the information and regulations for the event.

I agree on the course layout, but have had no input. The course, actually appears to be a compromise between ours and theirs. I guess it never hurts to be a good host.

WC course

The race course can be seen on www.raceforthekids.net site. It will be layed out with one turn the same as we have in the Title Series with three buoys, that is the tight one. The other will have eight buoys which will be so wide that maybe the 1100s will not have to back off. From the beach start, boats should not have to slow down, except for traffic, until they reach the three bouy turn.

I have watched the Italians test and I can assure you that no one over here is running as fast and quick off of the jetty than the Italians. Just look at some of the race pictures posted of the races over there, do you see anyone running as clean and high as they are. Chris Hellsten has Cremona's boat, but it is not carrying the sponsons as high and is not running as fast as they are either. We need to step up the testing and play with the setup until we get faster, we have the equiptment, we just need more test time and practice. Rex Hall

Don't give up before the race!! I've raced with these guys for 5 years now and they CAN be beaten. It's not going to be easy.....but with some hard work and testing.....maybe we can win the majority of the World Championship classes. Work on those jetty starts!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not just the small classes...a couple of Europeans will be joining us in the 1100 Hydro race as well. Good Luck!!

Also note the maximum points win for Columbi in 0-250 (Italians 1st, 2nd & 3rd) and also a maximum points score for Alex Cremona in 0-350. It all bodes well for the Italians come the Worlds (but we knew that anyway! )

Chris Hellsten will not dissapoint the us at lake alfred. Also i think the course helps the u.s. drivers since the 'tight' pin is a normal 3 pin turn. Either way it's going to be a great weekend.

UIM changed that rule years ago, it got rid of the moving chicanes and squirrels at the back of the field.
