I noticed on the sanction that there will be a LeMans start for 250h , 500r , and 1100h. Is this something new for this year?

As always the people of DePue are getting ready for the May Race.
When I got home from Lake Wales the phone didn't stop with everyone checking up on how everybody did and who made the trip to Florida.
They are asking me how many trailer are going to left here between races
They like seeing them sitting on the lot.
I've talked to the Booster Club again about having the food stand and they are going to get back with me. I think the taco stand down the street will be open, I'll find somebody to have a food stand under the shelter.
Yes Tim Small and David Weaver the Giant's Den will be open everyday for breakfast.
Anyone have any new ideas for that weekend give me a call
See you in a couple of weeks

Just wondering , which type of start do the drivers prefer? As a fan , I think the La Mans is better because it takes out the DQ for jumping the gun and there is no guessing if a certain boat is legal.

That is a loaded question that might get some interesting replies.

There are drivers who prefer the LeMans start because they feel it is less confusing to the fans and because you can put more boats on the course at once. It does require some set up work so you can get on a plane and accelerate quickly or your toast.
Some guys in the bigger boats feel it is to much of a load on the crank and it will increase the stress and tear up more cranks.
Some like the added challenge of the clock and the skill required to nail the start. My guess there is no clear cut answer to that one.

                Uhhhhhhhhhh

It seems to me that at least in 1100 noone wants Lemans start, and I don't believe there was any meeting or conversation about this so at least in 1100 lets not do it.

I don't think we should change the USTS over one EU world champ race. First there was no comments about this in the first two races, (thus no time to test). 2nd, in Europe there are docks, one ropes, one throws you by the pipes, there is no good way to do this in Depue. To do this we need so many more people to get help for the start, I don't know if it's possible for me and other teams to bring that kind of help. 3rd, I raced in Florida, Italy and China, and that type of Lemans start is boring. No driving needed. No skill is needed. That's why I didn't go to the worlds at Cyprus Gardens, even though I won the nationals in 350 that year. I love USTS, and will do what it takes, but I don't agree on changing our format over one race.

                    Sean

Was there not a vote over letting the Worlds even count toward Hall of Champions? Once again, we should not change our format for one race.

                      ALL

Listen up very carefully.....We are NOT changing the format of the USTS!
We discussed this at the fall meeting and we are trying to give those who are running in the Worlds a chance to practice starts at the June DePue race and in Dayton. I never said we were changing the format perhaps you should all read the Promotion when we send it out and you would know what we are doing.
If the capsule guys do not wish to participate that is fine with me then you can run a clock start. Do not make this something it is not. If you don't understand something I have email and a phone call me first before this gets way blown out of proportion.
We will decide at the drivers meeting in DePue which classes would like to run LeMans to prepare for the Worlds. We did this the whole season prior to the O125 worlds in Depue and one of our own won so maybe there is some reason to this rhyme.

Le Mans or not to LeMans

NO worries, I will lift. But, I may need a return of the favor. This suggestion came from some drivers. We can give it a try, as did help the 125 drivers several years ago.

IF the 1100's do not wish to try LeMans starts now in competition, I do not believe that the intent is to force you (rather than offer the opportunity). Of course, if our beloved starting clock were ever to fail (it was used in the first PRO race in 1904) then we would have to revert to LeMans starts.

Thanks very much..I am not sure where all this negativity came from. No One had a problem with it last time and we ran the LeMans in 125H at all the races the last time the O125 worlds were in this country. No one implied it was written in stone but no one objected when we discussed this at the meeting either.

                              Great Idea!

Since the USTS holds a meeting every year and tries to plan for the following year and now 5 weeks before the races everybody says WTF and starts on Hydrowhiner instead of calling or e-mailing the Board of Directors maybe we should hold our meetings via net meetings!

The Title Series was only trying to support the people participating at the Worlds in October. If the people have a problem with LeMans starts go talk to Ralph Donald and Robbie Galleta since they are creating the event in October.

Oh and by the way the net meeting would be great..... we could hold it right here on Hydrowiner and I won't have to pay for a ticket and hotel to fly to Chicago or type the minutes to the meetings for eveyone to read in the Pro Motion.
