  • 302 gearcase???

Does anyone know about stadium raced gearcases that are on the yamoto web site?
Are thes refurbished as i heard the motors are or as used, if so how would they last?

I've been told they are same as the stadium raced 302's .... probably a very good product .... Ric Montoya could answer in more detail.

They will need to be shaped and prop shaft changed out to the 9/16" shaft

          choice....

most props for CSH and OSY are made with 9/16" ; secondly the foot usually is shaped for less drag down to min specs.

Many do not change the shaft. Racers change the shaft as there are more props out there with the 9/16 hole.
Again, you do NOT HAVE to shape the gear case. Many do because it improves the boats handling characteristics. By a large amount BTW.

              size shaft?

What size is the standard shaft on a 302 unit, larger or smaller?

                  now i see

That explains it, i thought it might be smaller ,could be bushed.
How much is the cost for these mods, as they can be had for under $350.00 total?

                    9/16 Prop Shaft

There is also a problem with the shear pin location......I have tried
turning down the stock shaft and filling the existing shear pin hole
(located closer to the tail cone) but they have a tendency to
crack and break. It is much cheaper to replace the shaft than
tear the unit apart twice and replace the propeller.

the 9/16 shaft is around $120 now (uninstalled and swapping out the 302 stock shaft is a little trickier than the ones on the 80 and 102), the shapping of the gearcase is around $225...............so, right around $350...so....figure you would have $650 or so into a "new stadium raced" 302 foot..............plus any shipping costs.........

                        302

Sounds to me like we are best off leaving the shaft at 16mm, and retaining the pin location, and reaming out the 9/16" prop hubs, 1.7mm to 16mm.
These units come with 14:15 gears, but the APBA rules seem to say after market 14:16 gears are legal. Who supplys these, and why on a stock motor
Maybe I am mixing up stock and mod

STOCK...............only the use of the 14/15 gears in 102/302 motors....

14/16 in the Yamato 80 motor............

                            302 foot

So for cheap what brian said and have it shaped.
Thanks all lot of info. here. I emailed the fella in U.K. and he said 158 GBP including shipping, near as i can calculate that's a little over $340.00 U.S.
I just wondered how long that unit would last under a 40" merc d mod?

I've seen some used in D-Mod and it looked like they lasted OK, but there is another issue ... more money to be spent ... there is no water inlet on the Yamato foot. Reshape and add water inlet hole on the bullet; I have seen some competent work done on these and others that were excellent work.
