Someone has asked this question before but I can't find the thread so I apologize for the repeat question.

I am looking for a tach/temp set up for my 302. Anybody have any recommendations?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
go for the Digatron DT32K1..............just what you need. You also need to order the 10' extension cables for the tach and temp sending leads. Tell them you are using the unit for a CD type (high energy) ignition system..........

    http://www.digatronusa.com/products.shtml

call or email Bettie, she can hook you up!

this is what you would need:

    (1) DT32K1 or DT52K1 (if additional inputs wanted, like EGT, etc). The 32K comes with cylinder head temp and tach leads. It also comes with a mounting bracket, but the bracket is made to mount on the steering wheel, which would not work too well for our use, but could be screwed to the dash.

    (1) UT60XBCBC temp (CHT/EGT) extension harness 10'

    (1) TS60XBCBC tach extension harnesss 10'

I see the DT32K1 units for sale on Ebay all the time (for around $219-239), but you can get the same price from Digatron, plus you need to get the extra length leads ($10ea) ........

        Thanks

        Daren,
        Thank you very much!

        Phil,
I have been told 102 and 302 take a different style due to ignition systems but I am not sure. Hopefully someone will reply with a recommendation for your motor as well.

Phil, Digatron says it will not work correctly, but I know there are others out there that have the unit working fine with the 102 points style ignition. I have not tried it on my 102's yet.....but will shortly. I am sure someone else could give you a better answer.

also, there are always a few different Digatrons on Ebay for sale most of the time. The other models, such as the DT52K will work also, it just has additional inputs (EGT, lap timer, etc) on the back......

I use the DT52K and seems to work well with the 302. I can't tell you how it will work with the 102 though

              102/80 Yamato Tachs

Digetron does not make a model to work on the pointed 102/80 Yamato anymore. I have been using a 1988 model Digetron DT-6e which works fine on the pointed ignition but not on the more modern electronic one(302).

Perhaps the Tiny Tach may work on the 102 model??

Also look on e-bay for the older DT-6E model and then get it to Digetron for a tune up!!

hey Matt, I have a DT-5E that has been in the box for about 10yrs (don't think it has ever been used), is it similiar to the 6E? I know all it has is a tach lead though.

Digatron can configure any of their DT50K series units to tach on any motor that rotates, by sensing a magnet affixed to a rotating part. This is how we get them to work on four cylinder Mercs with mags. I drill an 1/8" hole in the flywheel to glue a mini magnet in, and fit a transducer nearby.[on the starter boss] On a stock 102 maybe you would get a hassle in inspection, but just do not race with it on. All u guys with Yamatos should be sensing CHT too.

                    Bettie@Digatron can fix u up, quote;

"We can do a magnetic tach on our DT-50K series instruments. The sensor has a magnet in the end that picks up off of another magnet as it goes by. I would suggest a DT-52K for RPM and CHT. Let me know what you think! Bettie"

The Digatron tech guy lives in MI, and wants to come out to an o/b race to see what our needs are. If they knew what we wanted, they would configure some thing special for us. Right now the dash units are not really waterproof, and don't need to be for karts etc.
