  • Merc 75 hp vs. 90 hp?

Does anyone know the difference between the two, other than the obvious 15 hp? As per the general information in my owners manual, both engines have the same number of cylinders, displacement, bore and stroke. I believe the one I have is a 2000 year model. Looking to get a little extra umph out of it-

I have a 75hp four stroke and have been told that the only difference is the carburation, one of the fellow racers from the TCPBA at the 35W bridge race was telling me that the one he had you could prop up and up never really seemed to cave like the twos do .....not sure if that gives any more info but when you find out let me know my Lund needs to more than the 45 it does now ......

I have the largest prop currently available on (store bought) and it`s in the proper rpm range for the engine. If the only difference is in the carbs, I wonder what it could be.... I`ll do some more digging. Thanks.
