  • Boat rack

I need to pickup a A runabout the plan is to mount a set of boards across the top of my pickup bed. What I need to know is howfar apart to put these to set the boat on any help would be appreciated.

    Suggestion

Contact the seller and find out how wide the bottom is, and then make the rack a couple inches less . Being a Runabout, you may want to extend the rack the full length of the boat so you can affix some sort of front pad to rest the front on and tie it down. If it has a eyehook you can bolt it to a 2 x 4 and not worry about it moving.

I've done this several times and found the best way is to use 2X4s crossways in the bed mounted on the top of the bed's sides. Then run padded 2X4s lengthwise to support the boat. Additionally make sure you have the boat secured to the truck- not just the rack and be sure, if you should have to stop quickly, that the boat will not slide forward and take out your truck's rear window.
