  • old konig lower unit help needed

i have several old style konig lower units that i would like to replace the bearings in. these are not the split case type but the old style solid casing with the 2 bolts used to hold the tail cone in place. my questions are: how do you get the bearing out in the nose? how do you get the pinion bearing out? i understand you need a special fixture to remove the pinion gear. i'm assuming you need to do this before removing the shaft from the housing. can anyone help? some more questions.... are the bearings still available? and where?

    thanks,

    frank

      newer, old konig lower unit

      dave

thanks for the contact with dave dalton. turns out all is fine with the unit. just a little cleaning did the trick. dave was a big help.

now for the next adventure.... i have a good 'links' lonig housing with a good pinion shaft. i need the pinion gear and a prop shaft with evetything the goes on it. any help out there? these are still old solid case lower units by konig but have different gears than the older ones. this stuff will probably be in a basket, box or other container. which is fine.

      thakns,

      frank
