There are several dyno graphs out there... Along time ago I did one on a car, it's on bristoldyno.com or such site... (google?) The motor was an inline six tubro, nissan skyline rb20det... 2.0L single turbo. It was just switched over from regular mineral oil to redline synthetic 5w-30 or so, since they definitely didn't make 7.5w30 which nissan recommended. It was all stock, I did two or three runs... changed the oil at the shop (had it sent there, cheaper shipping to a business) and it ran 10hp or so more if I remember right, that was two years ago... But thats the anatomy of a high performance car engine using it... I'd love to dyno a two stroke. I'm hearing a whole bunch of talk about the allyson oils over at scream and fly... some zero weight stuff? TCWIII isn't trash, but I just wouldn't run shell tcwIII in a high revving two stoke engine...

Haven't heard too much from the Amsoil crowd....? I'm gonna go get some more popcorn and bore another yellow hole in the snow out the back door. Hopefully things will liven up some.

While we're at it... Anybody got any Citi-Service outboard oil hangin around - ya know, the stuff that had an alcohol smell to it? Awww you guys are all too young to remember that (Not you Stotts! ..Sir) heckuva lot safer than sniffing glue. And 'white gas' .... AMOCO.. Yup. Flashbacks are all I have to look forward to.

      Well almost.

Before City-Service oil was the hot oil to use, it was Dew-Coat two cycle oil out of Chicago,Il that was the hot ticket. I guess that really dates me ( my KG-4, 20-H days). Its red line syn mixed with Power Mist castor now.

That was just brother Dave's & my mix, Cities Service oil & Amoco premium. We once took a can of the Cities Service oil after emptying it, turned it on it's side & held a match at the opening. Instantly it went POOF with a slight flame.

I have a collection of Outboard motor oil cans & one is the Cities Service oil of that era. Although it's empty, the lid is intact. When you open it it stills smells a lot like the original.

I remember the first time i saw a can of citi service oil in a S O trailer,i said boy they run cheap oil, but when i saw more of it i said i need to change my brand of oil. I ran Castro R for as long i could get it there was no gain but the motors liked it, got protested in OPC an S.O. because it. In OPC they tested the gas an it passed. At a stock race Fred Miller just looked at the bottle an said ok.

                        Old Oil

Alex, I know you have seen my old oil can collection. I have a full Quart of Macmillan " ring free oil " It says it is superior in both 2 and 4 cycle engines, I guess ill be all set when we go to 4 stoke Yamatos, perhaps we should test this in a Tohatsu ?? And Jack is and expert on oils , He was around when oil was in its origional state..

Have been using Redline Two Stroke racing oil for over 15 years. 20 to 1. 16oz to 21/2 gals of gas in my Yamato's. Never used the injecting oil. I would call Redline and ask them about using it in a non injected 2 cycle motor
Use mercury oil for engine break in.

I got my Stock and Mod Buddies running Redline Two Stroke Oil (Not the Injector Oil) and they are running 32:1 with no problems.
