I'm looking for a rule clarification on a new J Category rule that says something about "Lifting Rails" are not allowed on Runabout hulls.
My interpretation is that a "lifting rail" is something like those found on the outer trailing chine edge on a DeSilva, Krier or PRO runabout. The original intent of a lifting rail was to help lift and launch alky runabouts with these. Is my interpretations correct in the context of this rule?
I hope the rule doesn't mean "spray rails". Spray rails that do not create negative deadrise, are no greater than horizontal on the bottom or wetted surface, have no longitudinal breaks and generally comply with the definition of a runabout hull should be legal.
I hope I'm articulating what I think the difference between a "lifting rails" and a "spray rail" is. Can anyone clarify this new rule?
