Depends on the boat and the prop. First I'd ask the boat maker.
Outside of asking the boat maker I'd probably start with the center of the propshaft (not the center of the bullet) an inch to inch and 1/8 below the bottom and work up. I use a 4 ft straight edge to see where the back of the prop shaft is on my Pugh
Remember: each race course has at least 2 turns ... the boat with the highest top speed potential isn't always the winner .... the boat the goes around the course the quickest is the winnerLast edited by sam; 02-22-2006, 02:58 PM.

transom Height
Hey Jack,
If you are building a boat then I make them 12 - 12 1/4" from the true bottom. If you are wanting to run it then, depending on the boat. I run mine at usually 3/8 to 5/8 below and between 1/8 and 3/16 tucked in. It depends on you weight as well. Ron Collins used to run his Square and Level on his Giles and liked it there but when I ran his boat it was all over the place for me loose in the back end all the time but Ron was 240+ and I am 190.

I wasn't even going to run the second heat; I had water in my gas tank and could hardly get 60 mph, duh.
