Does anyone know if you can get points from NAPA (or anywhere) for a Mark 20? Mine has the Scintilla/Bendix Mag.

Sean Im pretty sure no one makes replacement points for Bendix mag,
I have seen them on ebay new and used from time to time. I usually just square and block the used ones with emery paper , tweak the springs and put them back in after cleaning and lubing them. You can still get coils and condensors for them.Destiny is a matter of chance,it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.

Well, I tried polishing with 600 grit wet sand paper. However, after the polishing the surfaces of the points did not come together perfectly flush. After puting together it seemed to idle pretty good at first. But after running it for awhile it started missing at low speeds. I've replaced everything new but the points. Does anyone have a good set out there? Thanks in advanceSean Byrne

Your problem may be weak magnets rather than bad points. The slower you run the lower the voltage generated by the magnets, weaker means even less voltage.
There are some guys in the AOMC that can do magnets. RC Hawie used to have a set up to do it.

Looks like it wasn't the points after all
Got a message from my buddy who was as intrigues as I about my problem of week spark on the lower cylinder. I left the motor at his place since that is where I usually do my testing (lives on a lake). Any rate, he emailed me last night and this is what he said:
"Sean,
I swapped condensors - no change.
I polished the #2 set of points and bent them to align better - no change.
I swapped the points - no change (except maybe the bent & polished set might be producing an even greater spark when installed in the #1 set up).
I checked and found about .007 gap between the magnet contacts and coil pick-ups at all locations.
I re-adjusted the points to .016 - no change.
Currently I am of the opinion there is an issue with the #2 coil or its' wire.
I have removed the mag plate and removed the coil from the spark-plug wire - but that is where I called it a night. Tomorrow I will install my NOS coil and see if it comes to life."

ok - I'm stumped?? Any ideas???
Condensors and points were swapped - spark is still weaker on bottom cyl. NOS coil installed for the bottom cyl - still weaker spark on bottom cyl. Pulled both coils leaving plug wires attached and swapped the coil, boot and wires from one cyl to the other. The spark has stayed with the top cylinder and I haven't got a clue why there is weak spark on the bottom cyl. Any ideas????? Coils, condensors and plug wires are all new.Sean Byrne
