  • Kill switches for 102's and 302's

I was looking for kill switches today and over at Sorensens website. It said you need two for a 302. Is that right? If so ,why does the 302 need two? Do I need two for my 102? I don't think I do.

What kill switch do you guy's use and recomend? also where to get it.

    Thanks,
    Mark

The 102 uses one kill switch 2 pole. The 302 needs a either two 2 pole switches or one 3 pole switch that are hard to find. Got mine from Konig and it was expensive about $60.00 However, there is another way for the 302. Some racers are using the 2 pole sw with a blocking diode available from Seaway Marine. Or call Ric Montoya.

Lights I use ones made by Sea Dog and never have had a problem with them so far even when soaked with water. They are 4 pole swithches two poles work for CDI and the other two work for Mag type ign. Here is a link for them on ebay but most places sell them.

                  Diode Patch Cord-Homegrown Innovation

We use 1 kill switch in the boat, but run the Diode that Bill Boyes mentions. It's a Mercury part built originally to make multi-outboards on an Offshore rig cut off with a single kill switch. Price is about $20.

What I have been doing with these is making the diode like a separate "patch cord" in the kill switch line: Put a two pole plug on one end (that leads to the boat's switch) and a three pole end on the other end that goes to the motor. This way, the diode is not "hard wired" into the boat or motor, and if we need to run our 302 on a boat with only 1 kill switch in it, it's fast and easy to take the diode with the engine. A no-brainer.

                    Ditto

Ditto what Pat said. We run the Diode with our 302. Call it the KISS philosophy (Keep it simple stupid) and only $20.

I sell the origanal König type switch and have in stock. By the time you buy from UK and pay mailing and if you do this to make a little you have about 50.00 dollars.
