Mod 200 Tuned Pipe

What is the effect of altering the length of the tuned pipe on the OMC Mod 200cc? Any other alterations that are effective?

I modified a tower with a window in the side so we could quickly change out pipes for length, cone angle etc. After a bunch of work and development parts to swap in and out, we came to the conclusion that OMC did one hell of job on that stock pipe. That was with our porting and all so your results may vary, but my opinion is that chasing pipe changes won't gain you very much.

I had a discussion with Fred Howenstein. His years of experience and conversations with about 200 Mod revealed the same conclusion mentioned above by Steve. He did mention that plugging the hole on the side of the pipe and plugging water holes to have a dry tower as the only mods.

If you are racing against Katie you should use the shortest pipe possible.
