  • Euro design Pro boats

Interested in hearing opinions regarding how competitive euro (laydown) design Pro boats have become here in US over the last few years. What are comparative similarities/differences among the most popular boats (Kala, Mostes, Trombetta, Mosquito etc.).
Specifically with respect to the 125 and 250 hydros. What seems to be trending? Has composite become the standard? What modifications (if any) need to be made to the euros for best performance on the typical US courses?
    Untethered from reality!

Need no modifications, All are competive as they are. Composite seems to be the standard. Ask anyone racing. USTS.

Schmidts Euro style is close to a mostes minus the extra 80+ lbs.... Buds are a US version of a trombetta. But all of these composite boats, you just turn the wheel wide open and they turn on a dime... Only problem with Kala's are if you have a wide body, your not fitting in it.. But a Kala 125/175 can handle a 250...Kurtis Nydahl proved that a few years ago in Depue.

Good question Dr. Thunder, the composite boats are definitely the boat of choice in the PR0 division, the differences between the designs are minimal at best. They are designed to race on narrow rivers, so the ability to turn is a built plus that came with years of design development to facilitate their racing environment. I truly believe that when someone finally tries one in the MOD division, they will dominate that category as well. With a little testing and some modifications I think it would make a stock boat for the larger stock classes. If you have any other questions call me. 863-808-2043
