Who are the resident experts on the OMC Stinger motors ? Jack has a Jaguar Tunnel hull with a 50 hp Merc on it - With power trim and a Bobs jack plate and an 18 inch chopper he can eek out 50 mph on the Gafrig- with his hot foot mashed. How would a Stinger be for an upgrade ? we need a 20 in shaft and I could possibly use the 2 piston trim from the Merc. Whats available - and what should I look for other then the typical used engine stuff??

a couple problems : The were several OMC versions of the Stinger. Some with skinny rods, etc You would probably be better off finding a 56 cu in version of the 3cyl. I am guessing that would get you to 60 ish. There are a bunch of Canadians who use the three cylinder on what they call T Boats. They run well. track one of those dudes down and I'll bet they could help you.

The Stinger (and Sizzler) was a great engine. Very few of the light rod motors were made and I doubt many are left. I raced one in Sport E and E Production for several years. The 15" was the only real race motor. The foot was smaller and it had different carbs and flywheel (on some). If you're interested I have an original 1979 75HP Stinger "E" motor. I also still have some props w/ blowout rings.

There's a couple of fully rigged boats for sale in CDA; strong US$ makes them very affordable. Go for the 56ci, put on Nitro gearcase.Stock Outboard Racing!....because other sports,....golf, football, baseball, etc....only require one Ball!
