  • Merc Timing Buzzer

    Vintage Merc Fans!
Who is the maker, and the contact particulars, for the maker of the " timing buzzer" for the old KG- and Mark series motors? Evidently he lives in the Detroit area. Saw one being used on the weekend-absolutely a great tool.
    Thanks for the help.

    Buzzer

Don't know who that is you are talking about but here is where I got my buzzer. Works great on point ignitions like on my Yamato Y80. I just hook up the 2 leads to each side of the kill switch seperater plug wires (or just to each point if you like with the flywheel off).

The 12-16903 is the one to order

      Wain;
-us ol' timers (before your time )
made them out of door bell buzzers and a battery.
      or a flash lite.
But those buzzers no longer exist, which is good.
The Aircraft Spruce buzzer/light is the way to go.
Works on any point timed ignition, Fairbanks, all KDs, Scintilla,
Phelon, Eiseman, Bosch, Lucas, Y80/102, PRs etc.
Does not work on most solid state triggered ignitions ?
A/Spruce has a outlet in Toronto.
ps; -missed u at Rideau Ferry

        buzz box

We used to make our own with all the parts from radio shack. Used the door bell chines, AA battery holders, bought alligator clips, wires, rubber groumets etc. We bought the red light they sold so we could also see if it was working. Cost was minimal and all was bought at radio shack.
Even added a magnet at the end of the box to hold it from falling when using. The other use which Im sure everyone knows its a great tool to check your kill switch. I know it worked with the konig, mercury, and yamato 80's to check kill switches but dont know about on any other motors. The box checked our 44 mercs and our yamato 80 for timming. Took an hour or so to build.

Dennis Kirk sold them years back as well that might be worth looking into as well.

That's what mine is. It's probably close to as old as I am. Works well though.
