  • 102 to 302 Transom

Got a 302. Need to trim the transom down. Have the motor on, should I do the measure with the motor kicked out? Or level? Give me some hints.
    Thanks

    transom height

Do with prop shaft level to boat bottom. With depth rule set at 3/4" for center of prop shaft rear tip below bottom shooty for a transom height that places the shaft measurement at about 1" below bottom and use shims to get to the rule. Easiest way is to set engine on transom with shaft level then measure where the rear center of the shaft relative to bottom, then calculate what you need to cut out of the transom to get 1" below.

Thanks. That's about what I was thinking. I am having an aluminum transom clamp plate made, so I can raise it if I need to use the 102.
