I need to help a new racer build a marathon fuel tank. When making a fuel tank from PVC tube will the standard primer and cement be ok. I'd hate to have it spring a leak .
Yes the standard primer and glue works fine. But, you only have one shot to get it right so make sure you use enough cement and work fast. Good luck and see you in Trenton!
as per toms advice ive made two sets of these tanks now. bother 55 inches long for top o marathon. they work great. just make sure when youre strapping them down that your hose clamps cant vibrate loose. i electric and/or duck tape the piss out of my clamps. ps. a second breather when filling these REALLY speeds things up. let me know if youd like pics of the last batch i made with the second breathers.
scary?? they work great. the flex more than aluminum which cracks in a lot of the marathon conditions... like last year at top o on saturday. tanks faired the best out of anything on my floating toothpick barge.
