Anybody know what the e-mail address is for the sidewinder motors users blog site? The new carburator is a challenge to tune in.

Bob not sure if there is a blog site but here is what I found the shield is super critical on the A motor it must be 2 and 3/8 to 2 and 1/2 inches in front of the carb face to the inside back of the shield. More important it the height of the top back lip of the shield that must be Three inchs above the carb measured from the carb casting right behind the black piece. A 106 jet and a W-16 rod with the clip in the top notch has worked every where I have run mine doesnt matter if the air temp is hot or cold or a sea level to 1200 above.

      Hey Guys,
The Forum i Setup when i first got the SW is:
      http://sidewinder.hyperboards.com/

feel free to join, activity has been low the last year as the carb was going through changes. I haven't picked up the new carb at this time so i'm unable to help out with setups.
Feel free to post your progress and settings, it will become usefull for all who make this move.

      Cheers.

          George,

          George,

I made wood blocks and wax glued them to the carb 2 3/8 inch in front and 3 in on carb metal and plastic venturi flange. Placing the shield in that position I must bend the shield mount forward on both sides to capture the shield but the lower edge of the shield interferes with the Brown Manufacturing steering bar in the folded position. Do I have the privilege of raising the shield higher to say 3 1/4 inches or will that suffer performance. If so, then I need to bend the steering bar. What would you do?

Bob raising the shield will hurt performance as the carb seems to draw more air from the bottom. I cant fold the right bar in all the way either. I redrilled my shields to get them right then put some carbon fiber on the inside to reinforce the back edge of the shield and close up the old holes. If your running the brown Hotrod bars you could change the piece that bolts to the tower with ones for a 20H as its wider then the one for the Hotrod that may give you the room to close the right bar all the way. I just take the bar locking pin and put it in the hole that the steering cable hooks to on the right bar so I dont loose it.

                Bend the bar

The easiest solution is to bend the steering bar down about 1 1/2 inches at the end. It will then clear the shield.

                Thanks George.

And How much did you pay for this disaster? Probably more than the cost of a fast OMC and a Hotrod combined. Great job Sidewinder.

And How much did you pay for this disaster?

I PAID LESS THAN SEARCHING FOR 5-6 OMCS THAT COULD BE MADE TO BE COMPETITIVE.

That is the problem with OMCs. The variation of performance is wide and good motors are difficult to obtain. The sidewinder solution provides uniform performance across the board which makes for more balanced competition.
