    What Engine

Which engine are you using ? Merc 44, or Yamato conversion ?

For the Merc, you can use Devcon, Hi Temp Silicone, and a number of other adhesives. Seems like each builder has their own special trick. As long as you you are certain the filler block is milled flush with the block, most also place a few machine screws through the exhaust plate to hold the filler block in place, depends on what system you are installing.

For the Yamato, I am not 100% sure. But I think it is bolt on conversion kit, and maybe a little silicone ?

If you have Quincy type pipes make sure you have the water tube that runs from top to botton at the rear of the plate
