I am at wits end with one of our Tohatsu D. Went thru this engine this winter. New oversize pistons etc. We tested at Lucas it ran great for 5 laps. Suddenly went down and ran on only one cyl. Could not correct there. At Home I ck. comp. excellent. Pulled carbs and reeds no problems, removed head & exh. plate visually insp pistons no stuck rings.etc. Removed flywheel no bare wires or visual problems. Repl. coils &ecu. Ran engine on test stand still the same problem runs on #1 cyl only. Pulled plugs and grounded them #1 was blue & constant 2&3 weak and itermittent. This engine has an elctric starter so it was cranking pretty fast without the plugs. Any help would be much appreciated.

Art, have you relocated the coil ground leads to bolts on the exhaust cover? The original ground wire was to one of the coil mounting bolts and when the engine gets warm, the ground does not make a good enough contact...........

Yeah! That is the only thing I have not tried. Will PM you my address. I have another one but the pulser coil is damaged.

Seems to be running now. But it has not seen the back of race boat yet. The other motor runs really good, so it may be awhile before we get the chance to test it.
