  • Tohatsu Pistons Do They Come With Rings, Wrist Pins, Clips?

I may be ordering a set of Tohatsu pistons for a TLDI 40 HP. I am used to buying pistons that come as a kit with wrist pin, clips, and rings. I simply cannot tell how the Tohatsu pistons come. The parts book lists these items separately but so does Mercury and everyone else.

I am further skeptical that the Tohatsu pistons come as a kit since they seem so "reasonably priced". In other words, I would have to add the rings, wrist pin and clips cost to each piston to be roughly what a Merc piston kit would cost.

Hopefully someone here can chime in. I would have posted at BRF but of course they have been down all week.

FYI the particular part number in question is 3t5000010m.

Thanks everyone! I'll definitely get with Alex after I do a tear down and see exactly what I need. I got a smokin' (as in I knew something was wrong with it) deal on a 40 TLDI. It only has 75 psi on each cylinder. I have yet to tear it down.

What is the likelihood I can get by with ring replacement only? The previous owner did mention something about the oil injection not being bled properly at one point...ya think!
